First stop: the farm outside Marshalltown, Iowa
We took it easy on the first day. After loading the car, we left Minneapolis around noon, drove four hours and spent two days on the farm with Charles -- shown here driving Jennifer to Applebee's).
Earlier, I watched as Charles and his neighbor Dave (pictured talking with Charles in the tractor) load 11 head of cattle into a trailer. That was harrowing but no one was trampled, butted or gored.
We left Iowa early Monday morning after Hesler called and told me a giant ice storm was barreling toward Iowa and Missouri.
