We took it easy on the first day. After loading the car, we left Minneapolis around noon, drove four hours and spent two days on the farm with Charles -- shown here driving Jennifer to Applebee's).Earlier, I watched as Charles and his neighbor Dave (pictured talking with Charles in the tractor) load 11 head of cattle into a trailer. That was harrowing but no one was trampled, butted or gored.
We left Iowa early Monday morning after Hesler called and told me a giant ice storm was barreling toward Iowa and Missouri.
